I hesitate posting this to a forum but I can't find a contact email...I think Soundsnap is infringing on the 5 ring Olympic logo on the homepage (sports button). It seems picky but the Olympic people seem very careful of their intellectual property. I'd hate to think a resource as great as Soundsnap would unwillingly violate the principals they try to uphold!

Well, it doesn't require

Well, it doesn't require much intellectual thought to draw five different colored circles. You could just replace it with a tennis racket or something if it really needed to be changed I guess, but it seems kind of petty.

Thanks for your concerns

Thanks for your concerns Bonita.

As you can understand, Soundsnap is probably not in the area of concern of the Olympics committee. But I see your point about not infringing anyone's copyrights.

As sgtmattbaker pointed out, they probably could not make any copyright claims, especially since we have not used the exact colors of the logo. In the end of the day, its an over-used symbol and we are not profiting by the use (we are not selling Olympics T-shirts!).

The whole concept of the Olympic games has switched from the ancient, idealistic games of peace, to a modern commercialized media product with druged up super-athletes. I wish the ancient Greeks of Olympia could sue the Olympic committee for copyright infringement..! :-)
